Kathmandu — Amid Nepal’s ongoing political transition and calls for democratic reform, Prime Minister Sushila Karki convened a virtual meeting today with Nepali ambassadors stationed in 44 countries. The meeting focused on securing international cooperation for the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for March 5, 2026 (Falgun 22, 2082). PM Karki outlined three key directives for the diplomats:

• Invite international observers and election monitoring agencies to ensure transparency.
• Promote Nepal as a secure and attractive destination for foreign investment, especially in infrastructure, clean energy, and digital services.
• Leverage Nepal’s cultural heritage and natural beauty to boost tourism, particularly during the festive Dashain–Tihar season. “We are rebuilding trust in our democratic institutions,” Karki said during the meeting. “Nepal must be seen as a stable partner in the global community.” She urged ambassadors to actively engage with media, think tanks, and diaspora networks to share positive narratives about Nepal. The meeting also included officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nepal Tourism Board, and Investment Board Nepal. They presented updates on current tourism trends, investment opportunities, and the government’s efforts to ensure election security. With Dashain festivities underway and international travel slowly recovering, the government sees this as a strategic moment to reintroduce Nepal to the world. PM Karki concluded the meeting by setting a goal: each ambassador must secure at least two new international partnerships or proposals within the next three months.
